Verify Your Site with Google & Bing

Get your site into Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools so you can see search performance and submit sitemaps. Verification proves you own the site.

Google Search Console (DNS TXT)

  1. Go to search.google.com/search-console and sign in.
  2. Add a property → choose Domain and enter your domain (e.g. example.com).
  3. Copy the TXT record Google provides.
  4. In your DNS provider (where your domain is managed), add a TXT record for the root domain with that value.
  5. Wait for DNS to propagate (often 5–30 minutes), then click Verify in Search Console.

Using the Domain method verifies all subdomains (e.g. www, blog) as well. No need to change any WordPress files.

Bing Webmaster Tools (DNS TXT)

  1. Go to bing.com/webmasters and sign in.
  2. Add your site and choose DNS auto verification or CNAME/TXT.
  3. Add the TXT (or CNAME) record they give you in your DNS provider.
  4. Click Verify once DNS has propagated.

Your sitemap

Every WordPress site on Always ON includes Rank Math SEO, which generates an XML sitemap. After your site is live, your sitemap is at:

https://yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml

Replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain. You can submit this URL in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools under “Sitemaps” after verification.

Alternative: HTML file verification

If you can’t add a DNS TXT record, both Google and Bing offer an HTML file method: you download a verification file and place it in your site’s root. That requires uploading the file to your WordPress site (e.g. via FTP or the File Manager plugin, or temporarily to the web root). DNS verification is usually simpler.
